RequestX Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 10, 2026 · Last updated: October 11, 2026
The short version
- We collect what we need to run RequestX: your account details, phone, the areas you work in, job details, photos you add, messages and payment records.
- Card and bank details go to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see your full card number.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
- Others see your general area, never your street address. A job's address is shared with the other person only after a hire.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information. Some records, like payments, we have to keep for a while.
- RequestX is for adults 18 and over.
- Questions: RequestXOfficial@gmail.com.
1. Who we are.
This site and app are run by RequestX ("RequestX," "we," "us"). RequestX is an online marketplace in the South Bay that connects people who need tasks done ("Posters") with independent service providers ("Helpers"). This policy covers requestxofficial.com and our apps (the "Service"), for visitors, Posters and Helpers. It doesn't cover other companies' sites or services, including Stripe's.
2. Information we collect.
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, password (stored in hashed form), and language. You give us this when you sign up.
- Profile information you choose to add: photo, bio, skills, tools, availability, languages, experience, licenses or certifications you list (we show these as self-reported), and links.
- Location: the service areas you set, the job location you enter, and an approximate location based on your IP address. We use your device's precise location only if you allow it.
- Job information: job posts, photos, descriptions, answers to job questions, dates, times and pay, offers, hires, completions, cancellations, no-shows, check-ins, and feedback (thumbs and reasons).
- Messages: in-app messages between Posters and Helpers, Get help requests, and emails you send us. If you use the Help contact form, we store the name and message you send so staff can reply in the app. That form does not collect an email address.
- Payment information: payment amounts, fees, refunds, credits, tips and payout status, plus the card brand and last four digits that Stripe shares with us. Stripe collects your full card, bank and tax details directly, under its own privacy policy.
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, error logs, and cookies needed to keep you signed in. When you create an account we store a hashed signup IP and a short browser user-agent on the account so we can review abuse. We do not store the raw signup IP. Password-reset links are stored only as a hash, never as the raw token. If you turn on browser alerts, we store a push subscription endpoint and keys for that browser so we can send those alerts. You can turn them off anytime.
- Records of your agreements: which version of our Terms and this policy you accepted and when, and any confirmations you give in the app (for example, a Helper's answers about licenses or permits).
3. How we use it.
To:
- create and run your account;
- show jobs and Helpers in the right areas and categories;
- show prices and process payments, refunds, credits, tips and payouts through Stripe;
- send you job and account messages;
- show profiles and records from RequestX jobs;
- help with support requests and disputes;
- prevent fraud and keep the Service secure (a person reviews before we act on suspected fraud);
- meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations;
- improve the Service.
We don't make decisions about you based only on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. When we share it.
- With the other person on a job: your name, profile photo, profile and general area; the job address only after a hire; and your messages on that job. If you and the other person have a problem with a job, we may share the job record (names, job details, messages and photos) with either of you so you can resolve it or make a claim.
- With the public: the public parts of your profile.
- With service providers who work for us:
- Stripe (payments and payouts);
- Vercel (website hosting);
- Neon (database);
- Google (email for support);
- Porkbun (email forwarding);
- Twilio;
- Resend;
- Cloudflare (Turnstile, when sign-up or password-reset checks are on).
They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- With professional advisers, like lawyers and accountants, when needed.
- For legal reasons: when the law requires it (for example, a valid subpoena or court order), or when we believe it's needed to prevent imminent harm to someone.
- In a business transfer: if RequestX is merged, sold or reorganized, your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We don't share it with others for their own direct marketing.
5. Cookies.
We use cookies that keep you signed in and make the Service work. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't allow advertising networks to collect information through our Service.
6. Do Not Track and cross-site tracking.
- We don't track you across other websites over time.
- We don't allow other companies to collect information about your activity across websites through our Service.
- Because we don't do this kind of tracking, we don't change how we operate when your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request not to sell or share your information. We don't do either anyway.
7. How long we keep it.
- Account and profile information: while your account is open. After you close your account, we delete it or remove what identifies you, except as below.
- Payment and tax records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Job records, messages and agreement records: as long as we need them to handle disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations, and longer if a dispute or legal claim is open.
8. Your choices.
Anyone can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you, and give you a copy;
- correct information that's wrong;
- delete your information, except records we have to keep (section 7).
Email RequestXOfficial@gmail.com from the email address on your account. We may confirm your request using a code sent to your account's email or phone. Someone you authorize in writing can ask for you. We'll confirm we got your request within 10 business days and answer within 45 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you, and we'll take no more than 45 more days. We won't treat you differently for asking.
You can also edit your profile, turn off optional notifications, and close your account in the app. Messages needed for an open job can't be turned off while it's open.
9. Children.
RequestX is only for people 18 and over. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it. Contact RequestXOfficial@gmail.com.
10. Security.
- We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. Passwords are hashed, connections to our site are encrypted, and access is limited to people who need it.
- No system is perfectly secure.
- If a security breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as California law requires.
- Report security concerns to RequestXOfficial@gmail.com.
11. Payments or contact outside RequestX.
If you share your contact details or pay outside RequestX, that information isn't covered by this policy.
12. Other sites.
Links to other sites, including Stripe, are covered by those sites' own policies.
13. Changes to this policy.
We'll post changes on this page and update the date at the top. If we make a material change, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. You can review this policy at any time at requestxofficial.com/privacy.
